Poetry Folder
Your child will bring home a poetry folder weekly with a new poem or song. Your child will not necessarily "read" the poems in a traditional manner. We chant, sing, and read the poems on chart daily as we track print and enjoy the rhythm and rhyme of the poetry and songs
Pack It Up
The PACK IT UP program provides opportunities for students and their families to be involved in meaningful math activities that will strengthen students’ math skills and the home-school connection by bringing home math packs with math lessons students and families will enjoy doing together. The program is designed to let children bring home math manipulatives and math activities that have been done in the classroom and are then shared with their family. A complete set of directions and materials are included to complete all the activities. Please sign the log sheet and return the PACK IT UP to school the following day so other students may have their turn. If your child needs to do an activity again, send me a note and I will send it after everyone has had a turn.
Reading Books
Sign your child's reading log when a new book is brought home. Let your child read the book to you. Return the book and log to school in the Ziploc bag.
Class Books
Please enjoy reading together the books that our whole class has made. We enjoy "publishing" our books and sharing our illustrations and words with everyone's family. Please return the book to school the next day so everyone can have a turn to read it. On the last day of school, we will put all of our books together on the floor and then we will then draw names so each child can select a book to keep.
